Screen shot from My Lane Play's frame-by-frame mode |
My Lane Play allows one to enter the frame-by-frame results of each game. After each shot in frame-by-frame mode, one selects each pin left standing. At the end of the game, it will display the single-pin and multi-pin spare percentages, the strike percentage, the pocket hit percentage, the crossover percentage, etc. It will collect this information for all of the games one saves. It can be broken down by league, tournament or practice, by oil pattern, and by bowling center.
One can examine his/her overall single-pin, multi-pin, split, and strike percentages for every single game recorded. It can be broken down on the calendar to see how one bowled between specific start and end dates. It will even email the stats so one can maintain them on one's computer or share them with friends.
This is a sample of the statistical record that was produced by six games I bowled for practice. My game scores were 181, 178, 179, 163, 174, and 179. Here are the details:

Pretty cool, eh? Except for two stinking ten pins and my splits, I did a good job converting spares. I could have put up some decent scores if I bowled more strikes but I had only 15 strikes in 65 attempts. Ouch. This was at Castro Village Bowl, by the way.
I've experimented with several free bowling applications and I've found most of them do a fine job of tracking scores. This is the only one that had so many useful features that I was willing to pay for it. The price was $8.99.
