POT 'O' GOLD

Sharon, The Coach, and Olivia
at Hooters restaurant in Dublin
We started our bowling night at the Hooters restaurant near Dublin Bowl. The service was a little slow but the food was good and they had the A's vs. White Sox game on the big screen. (A's 9, White Sox 7!) Each of us had hopes of winning one of the strike jackpots in Dublin Bowl's Saturday night Pot 'O' Gold game. Pot 'O' Gold is Dublin Bowl's version of Monte Carlo bowling.

The largest of the three jackpots was for the third game. It was over $1,000.00. The lowest was over $400.00 which is still a pretty good prize. The woman whose ticket was drawn to shoot for the big prize bowled a strike on her first shot to win 10% of it. Then she nailed a second strike to claim 40%. A third strike would have given her the entire prize but she left a few pins. Even with the miss on the final shot,  she still won over $400.00 so that's a pretty good night. The first game's jackpot went unclaimed and 10% of the second game's jackpot was won.

The Coach, Olivia, and Sharon shot a fair number of strikes and spares for cash. Here's some video of Sharon shooting a strike for cash.

The Coach left a couple of pins on one of his shots. This was spotted the host, Dave,  who challenged Coach to pick it up left-handed for a few bucks. Gary stepped up and nailed it. Little did Dave know Coach is a natural left-hander who bowls right-handed.

I had a game in which I bowled eight strikes and scored 246 but didn't win a penny. The colored pins weren't coming up for me. I won only $4.00 for the entire three game series. That's the way it goes sometimes. I don't think any of us had any "spinners." (For a strike with the blue headpin, one gets to spin the wheel to determine the amount of the prize.)

Sharon spotted a woman bowling a few lanes away with a delivery even more peculiar than this guy we saw back in June. I'm not sure what she's trying to do. It looks like she goes through a series of strange hand signals then a deep knee bend before finally taking her steps to the lane. Of course, I had to capture it on video.
